DRAGON QUEST III App Reviews

Perfection

I love it. The GBC version had some cool features, but I love the updated score/graphics. Addicted to nostalgia once more!

Relive the legend of Erdrick!

Glad I get to experience this classic JRPG all over again on my phone. Dragon Warrior 3 was one of my favorite games for the Game Boy Color growing up.

The greatest Classic Dragon Quest!

If you love classic RPGs, you really cant get much better than this!

Landscape view please?

Its Dragon Quest. Reviewing this is like reviewing, say, Half Life 2. Its good, its amazing, its a part of gaming history. Just posting this here to request a landscape view for the game. I use an iPad case, and it holds the iPad sideways. I can take it out to play Dragon Quest III, but after a while it makes my wrist all sore to hold the iPad unless Im in a car or something where I can partially hold it in my lap. So yes, landscape mode please?

Great but still lacking as a port.

First off I am a huge Toriyama and Dragon Quest fan boy, so my criticisms come from disappointment and not bile. This port has issues, the game was remade for the SNES and the Gameboy Color, the GBC had animated enemy sprites, the SNES had the graphics and animated enemies as well as the pachis mini games. The translation was also re-done in the Gameboy Color ports for DQ 1-3 to be more authentic to the original. This port for iOS dropped the animated enemies, removed the pachisi mini games, and the translation is very mish-mashed from its previous incarnations. DQ 1-3 on iOS all are confused with their translation doing a throwback to the faux old English Shakespeare dialogue used in the original NES days, and the more authentic more recent translations. So if youre going to be using any F.A.Q. Or guide, youre going to be VERY confused with the naming conventions. The personality system while a fun addition, the names or titles are difficult to discern if youve played it before or if youre using an existing guide for help picking personalities. So thats why I dont rate it as highly as DQ4 - which is thus far the best transfer and the best edition. This is still a great game dont get me wrong, I enjoy it still but it does have the faults that detract from it a bit. Its still worth a buy, I only wish the same effort in transferring DQ4 over was applied to 1-3 and 8. Lets hope that 5 & 6 dont cut any content in the journey over!

One of the best out there!

Dragon quest 3 is now one of my favorite dragon quest games. I cant wait for number 5 :)

Bad

This game was stupid, and not worth the price. I wish I had my ten dollars back!

Worth it.

One of the best in the series

No second bonus dungeon

Does anyone know what the third wish from divingeon is after you beat him within 15 turns is?! I can beat him in 17 but 15 is stretching it!

:-D

I played this old school on the NES back in the day, I second the other reviewer that called this "flawless." Remakes can be iffy, but this has everything we love plus extra. The music hasnt changed either just been processed better, so the great Castle theme played and my blood pressure went way down. And being able to have it with me on the go is such a great thing that I have no words. SE youve always got a fan in me.

Great game!

I wrote a few days ago about some text scrolling bugs, but I havent seen any more so maybe it was just a fluke. I was hoping there would be monster medals like in the Game Boy release, but losing that side quest doesnt hurt that much. This is a true classic JRPG!

A few things missing... but still wonderful.

Ive played and beaten this game on three different platforms, so to have it on my iPhone/iPad is a thrill. That said, I hope future releases of this game include the Pachisi tracks. I really enjoyed this part of the original game, and was very disappointed to find they were omitted. Next - the Monster Medals and bonus dungeon. I was really disappointed to find that those were also omitted from this version. The only other thing I would have liked to see here are descriptions of the items. It has been years since I played the game so I didnt recall what some of the things were. It would have been really helpful to have that information in the ITEMS menu. The game is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The music is fantastic. The gameplay is incredible. I still give this game five stars! One of the best ever.

Missing a few things

Loved it BUT missing: 1) Monster Medals Quest 2) Monster Animations during battles 3) Pachisi Tracks PLEASE BRING THESE BACK ON THE NEXT GAME UPDATE!!!!

The best RPG of all time

See title...

Best English version of DQIII!

Best version we have in English. The graphics are on par with the Super Famicom version, and they are formatted perfectly for any iOS screen; the music is phenomenally gorgeous from the symphonic suite CDs. And the game itself is amazing, no matter which version you play, but this version is the best. Wonderful.

One of the best!

Thanks square! Buy this game!

Excellent game

Loving every second and every aspect of this game.

Hate the childish translation

This was one of my favorite NES games. The gameplay is fine and the graphical update I can tolerate though I find unnecessary. What consistently bothered me was the silly translations of spells, items, and monster names. I wanted to relive the NES game not see everything replaced with very dumb sounding new names. Plus I had to constantly consult guides to see what was what. Most people wouldnt care about this, especially if youve never played the original. The game itself is fine, plays well, and an utter classic.

Lots of fun

All the fun of the original. The controls take a little getting used too. Some of the names have changed from the original. Other than those few minor complaints it is a great game.

Great game! Just missing cloud sync...

Lovely app, runs smooth and is lots of fun. Would be nice if saves synced via iCloud so I could resume on iPad sometimes. Plays really well, fits well as a mobile game.
